Morning Song 04:30
She gazes down through eyes bereft Summers gone and nothings left Morning Song Morning Song Into the mist of the cold grey dawn The punisher and the punished born The young girl weeps from her arms torn The child taken the baby gone Morning Song Don't question why who is to blame The devil's child without a name Morning Song Morning Song

There's a boy in the field, the wind caresses his face And his fingers plough the land, the earth in his hands He toils with all of his might from dawn until the night, The fear of what might be for the boy in the field Sanctify and yield Sanctify and yield Take him out to the field Sanctify and yield He fails to understand He fails to understand Fails to understand Why he's the boy in the field Down, down, down on bended knees Down, down, down on bended knees Children cry and soft voices die Down, down, down on bended knees There's a boy in the field, without a proper name A consequence of shame, there's a boy in the field They found him out in the heath, buried him under the peet Cold and bitter grief for the boy in the field

Waiting Time 07:59
Some time soon The phone will ring The conversation will do something To compensate for this empty house This empty house Waiting time
4.
They Came to tear down the old house today Nothing's inside, just darkness, decay But the child psychic knows, the child psychic sees Visions of darkness, unspeakable deeds Doo Doo Doo Doo The child psychic stands not far from the gate She still hears the sounds, the feelings of hate The stirings inside like a sweet violin Its time to farewell ,what went on within. Goodbye, Goodbye. They came to tear down the old house today Nothings inside, just darkness, decay

The Driver 10:55
I am the driver hands on the wheel Where am I going? What should I feel ? Where the road takes me is where I belong I look beside me but now you have gone. I'm searching still searching not sure what for In hope of finding what I had once before Highways and bi ways roads and lanes I am the driver still searching in vain There's a fire in the field where they harvested grain The yield now finished, we won't see it again I'm searching still searching just like before In hope of finding what once was before From townships through cities I drive and I drive Through places we passed through where do you hide? The rain is now falling, the traffic is slow I imagine your face in the overflow What would you say if you could see me now? I am the driver hands on the wheel Where am I going? What should I feel ? Where the road takes me is where I belong I look within me but feel you have gone.

Last Train 07:02
Cold stone spires push up through clouds of grey Wind carries whispers of past and delay Bleak transferred looks a cold winter lay Hopes turn forth at the end of the day Cold winters grey nothing left to say Cold winters grey nothing left to say Close the doors and seal the locks, Deserted house reveals what's been lost Steps carved from hand cut blocks Like old regrets...forever lost The winter wind whispers in the breeze The Names of those who took their leave All the hope's we tried to achieve Scattered in the wind..... Scattered in the wind.....

Buy vinyl direct from our website - weatnurecords.com/shop/marshall-sounds-of-recollection-vinyl/

Here is a collection of musical pieces lyrically related in theme to the Madeleine Homes in Ireland. Homes run by the Catholic church which were basically work houses for "fallen women" . Women who were single mothers. Children born out of wedlock were the "Devil's Children" and were (in most cases) taken from their mothers and fostered out to farming families who needed child labour to work the fields or work in domestic servitude with little or no education. This album is dedicated to those who suffered and the children that didn't survive.

The recording of this material was carried out in Bangkok, Tokyo and Osaka in 2019.

Arrangements and production by Paul Dengate (Sydney, Australia)
A special thank you to Michael Tee (Ya Ya Choral) for "Waiting Time" and Otomo Yoshide for guitar noises on "Morning Song"
